eThekwini Municipality - INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT TO TAKE CENTRE STAGE AT SOUTH REGIONAL BUSINESS FAIR

2017-06-14

South African Ministers including Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo and Public Works Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko are some of the prominent speakers lined up to address delegates at the South Regional Business Fair which is being held next weekend.

The Business Fair will take place at the KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre, Umlazi from 23 to 25 June and the public is invited to attend.

Entrance to this exciting business exhibition and conferences is free.

The Fair will run parallel with a two-day business conference where the focus will be on Radical Economic Transformation in infrastructure development.

The Ministers lined up to speak at the Business Fair will share government programmes and the opportunities available within their portfolios to assist entrepreneurs to help grow their businesses.

They are also expected to advise local entrepreneurs on how to take full advantage of government’s radical economic transformation programme.

Entrepreneurs such as Calvin and Family Group Founder, Calvin Mathibela who was recently listed as one of Forbes Africa’s 30 most promising young entrepreneurs, will also be in attendance.

Mathibela will deliver an inspirational talk on his entrepreneurial journey to motivate other business owners on how they can also become successful.

EThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede said inadequate infrastructure has been cited as one of the major constrains hindering economic growth in most cities.

“As government we believe that infrastructure development plays a powerful role in economic growth. Investing in this sector has a great potential in addressing economic challenges and can boost the development of small businesses, especially in marginalised areas and create more employment opportunities,” said Mayor Gumede.

Mayor Gumede said youth make up the majority of unemployed people in the country.

“We have therefore decided to invite people that are key in these sectors to advise young people about the available infrastructure development opportunities so that they too can play a meaningful role in the mainstream economy,” she added.

The public is invited attend the South Regional Business Fair to support local entrepreneurs and engage with prominent business people and government leadership.
