Intrepid Printers is rated as one of the largest commercial, lithographic printers in KwaZulu-Natal, employing over 200 staff members, occupying over 10 000m² of factory floor space. The Company operates 24 hours a day over a 5-day week, moving to 24 hours over 7 days, during peak production periods.
Intrepid Printers prides itself in being one of South Africa's top, quality printers of books, magazines, annual reports, calendars, posters, catalogues, brochures and journals.
The Company is highly involved in the printing and binding of school textbooks, for the whole of South Africa, in all the recognized languages. In excess of 1.4 million textbooks per month, are produced during peak times.
In addition the Company prints over forty different titles of glossy magazines, for blue chip publishers such as Brooke Pattrick Publishers, Profile Media, Technews Publications, Contact Publications, and many more.
The Company is a firm believer in keeping abreast of modern technology, and is continually investing in the latest, state-of-the-art, printing and binding equipment available.
Environment
Intrepid Printers is highly conscious of the importance of keeping printing as environmentally clean as possible. The Company is a member of the Environmental Interest Group, initiated by the Printing Industries Federation of South Africa. The Company ensures the paper it prints on, is acquired only from suppliers committed to sustainable forests, and all of its paper must bear the FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council), accreditation.
HIV/AIDS Policies
The Company recognizes Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV), and acquired immune deficiency syndrome, (AIDS), as serious health, socio-economic and employment problems. All its employees are given counseling and support, wherever necessary.
Community Projects
Intrepid Printers is highly involved, and financially supportive of the Wildlands Conservation Trust initiative, to create employment and conserve the environment through their Treepreneur Project, which encourages the local population to grow indigenous trees, in exchange for locally produced goods, or even paying for school fees.
Staff Training
Staff training within the Company is ongoing at all levels. In particular the Company has a proud record of having trained some of the top printing apprentices in the country.
