TIKZN To Play A Key Role In City's UK Foreign Direct Investment Drive

2018-06-08

Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal (TIKZN) joins the high-profile city and provincial delegation in its foreign direct investment (FDI) and destination marketing drive to the UK this week.

Neville Matjie TIKZN acting Chief Executive will be on hand throughout the week-long programme to provide key investment related information. Ayanda Zuma General Manager Marketing and Communications will join the team for the last leg of this mission in Liverpool.

The role of Trade & Investment KwaZulu-Natal is to attract foreign direct investment which will build businesses and create job opportunities which will help curb poverty, illiteracy and the lack of dignified shelter.

"As the official voice for investment in KwaZulu-Natal we play an important role in these investment drives. When there is engagement with potential investors there are always government related questions around investment such as incentives, financing, BEE requirements and the province's competitive advantages. That is where TIKZN comes in to help clarify matters," said Zuma.

"Bringing foreign direct investment to the province is about relationship building. It is about reinforcing our message that KwaZulu-Natal is ready for investment. Every time KZN undertakes a drive like this it strengthens its relationship with the UK with which the province has a long history.

"It is also an opportunity to showcase KZN's competitive advantages. The province is continuously implementing intelligent transport systems; has two major African seaports- Durban and Richards's bay;  King Shaka International Airport;  Dube TradePort with freight handling capabilities; Richards Bay IDZ; a world class banking system; prime industrial land along the coast and inland and a strong innovative ICT sector," she said.

The Durban KZN Investment Day, in London will highlight special economic zones in KZN and be used to secure investments in sectors such as aluminium, automotive components manufacture, agro-processing, ICT and tourism.

TIKZN, EDTEA, Richards Bay IDZ, KZN Growth Fund, Tourism KZN, Dube TradePort and Invest Durban will share an exhibition pavilion at the 2018 World Forum for Foreign Direct Investment in Liverpool from 11-13 June.

This Forum provides a global platform where expanding companies, investment agencies and service providers meet to explore the latest in solutions, innovation and best practices. Targeted meetings have been arranged with investors to market the province's investment opportunities.

These include the Durban Point precinct, Dube TradePort, Oceans uMhlanga, Beachwood Resort, Blythedale Coastal Resort, Keystone Logistics Park, Coastlands Developments, Westwood Development, Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone and the Cornubia and Sibiya Developments.

The KZN Investment Mission has been jointly organized by the Growth Coalition and Invest Durban and is one of the established joint major investment attraction drives by government and business.
