CAPITAL INJECTION FOR ULUNDI AIRPORT
Cabinet has approved R30-million as a capital injection to upgrade Ulundi Airport in Zululand.
The main runway, the fire and rescue facilities as well as the terminal building will be renovated. Landing and navigation systems will also be installed.
Cabinet acceded to a request by a task team led by Provincial Treasury that provincial departments make use of the air service once the upgrades have been completed.
The Zululand District Municipality owns and manages the airport.
The Provincial Government has already injected R40-million towards the improvement of Oribi Airport in Pietermaritzburg.
APPOINTMENT OF HEADS OF DEPARTMENT
Cabinet concurred with the five-year extension of contracts for the following Heads of Department:
1)
Ms Carol Lyn Coetzee - Economic Development and Tourism
2)
Ms Gabi C Gumbi-Masilela - Human Settlements Dept
It also concurred with the transfer of Mr Roger A Govender from the post of Head of Department of the Royal Household and Chief Operations Officer (Office of the Premier) to the post of Head of Department of Public Works with effect from 1 October 2011.
Cabinet endorsed the appointment of Mr Vusumuzi Ronald Bhengu to the post of Head of Department: Community Safety and Liaison.
