It is once again a pleasure to write a foreword for the KZN Top Business Portfolio. It is without doubt the most comprehensive magazine that describes the various sectors of business in our province. Well done to the KZN Top Business Portfolio team!

Businesses have a multitude of issues to contend with over and above their survival and making a profit in their businesses. Changing legislation, unusual weather patterns, the need to go 'green', labour issues, terrorism, crime in all of its forms and other factors have made businesses think twice and act smartly if they want to stay in the game. The
past year saw purse strings easing up and a more relaxed approach to spending. The South Coast of KZN, the domain of the South Coast Chamber, has seen business sentiment at both extremes on the scale of confidence. Many businesses have suffered during the recession and continue to do so. Other businesses are riding the crest of the wave after
having come through the past few years relatively unscathed. Generally the sentiment is growing more and more positive but we are not yet out of the woods.

Of course, our call to businesses and investors all over the country is to come and see what the South Coast has to offer. To say that we have everything that a business needs to succeed is pretty close to the truth.We may not have it all perfectly in order but be assured that our limitless resources beg that you take another look.

Congratulations to KZN Top Business Portfolio for serving as an excellent vehicle to take the thoughts, ideas and sentiments of business to the decision-makers in our province and beyond.
