The book won the South African entry for "Best Local Cuisine" cookbook in the prestigeous international Gourmand World Cookbook competition.

The East Coast Radio Big Walk has become a highlight on Durban's events calendar over the years and is the biggest family walking event in KZN. Over the past seven years, the East Coast Radio Big Walk has grown tremendously in size and stature, attracting phenomenal support fromacross KZN's cultural spectrum. There were just 1800 walkers in its first year and 19 000 in 2011. This year's event was supported by an expo, corporate hospitality packages and a Mini Big Walk.

In addition to providing listeners with top-notch entertainment and family-orientated events, East Coast Radio is serious about Corporate Social Investment (CSI). The station continuously strives tomake life better for the people of KZN with two major CSI campaigns: Winter Warmth and Toy Story. Both appeal to East Coasters to open up their hearts to help those less fortunate in the province.

The station's annual Winter Warmth drive sees a massive six-week long drive to collect blankets to help the less fortunate in KZN. In addition to input from corporates and big business in the region, listeners are asked to donate blankets which are then distributed to the needy throughout the province. The success of East Coast Radio's Winter Warmth campaign is dependent on the generosity of its listeners. Last year, Winter Warmth kept 33 000 people warmer in KZN.

Later in the year, East Coast Radio's Toy Story campaign rolls out. This CSI project is aimed at generating financial donations for the purchasing of toys and food parcels in a bid tobring some festive relief to children suffering from HIV/AIDS in KZN. Once again, the campaign's success is based on the generosity of local businesses and East Coast Radio listeners.

The contents of the food parcels are approved by nutrition specialists. They have been specially designed to sustain a family of between four and six for approximately six weeks.
