The first Mr Price Home store opened in 1999. The division offers a wide range of coordinated home products which target the higher LSM customers who are contemporary and young at heart. The brand is built on the foundation of great value, quality and innovation. Design is influenced by overseas home trends, but pricing and value are significantly different.
The early foundation of the business was in home textiles, followed by homewares and more recently an entry into the furniture market.
SHEET STREET
Sheet Street trades out of conveniently located price-value home textile stores that target the middle income consumers who are looking to co-ordinate their homes tastefully but responsibly. The merchandise on offer is commercially fashionable bedroom, living room and bathroom wares.
MR PRICE INTERNATIONAL
Another important development has been the expansion of the Mr Price Group brands into sub Saharan Africa and the Middle East. 2006 saw the first franchise "test" initiative in Lusaka, Zambia. Since then further stores have been opened in Zambia, Mozambique, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Mauritius, Malawi, Uganda and Saudi Arabia. The stores consist of the Mr Price, Mr Price Home and Sheet Street formats and performance to date has been exceptional, with encouraging sales, tight expense control and efficient stock management principles applied.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Mr Price sees its corporate social investment (CSI) as an investment in the future of the country, enhancing the well being of low income communities. To this end, the group established the RedCap Foundation, a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation, to carry out its CSI initiatives. The Foundation's vision is of a South Africa in which young people aspire to become citizens who take responsibility for building a peaceful and positive society for all. The mission is to break the cycle of poverty by inspiring young people from low-income communities to become self-sufficient and contributing members of society. The Foundation's approach addresses social problems through long term systematic interventions focused on education.

Mr Price Group and RedCap Foundation has partnered with UNICEF (United Nations Children's Emergency Fund) to raise funds for the Early Childhood Development Programme as well as RedCap Foundation projects.
