Women in Business (WIB) is a Non-Profit organisation founded in 2005. WIB aims to provide a platform for strategic professional and personal alliances between women who are in business or who have business ideas, or women who just would like to be part of a social business networkingorganisation. WIB aims to provide linkages and social interaction between entrepreneurs, and supportive role players. From its origins in Nottingham Road, WIB offers a twofold membership interaction, either in the form of physical interaction or in the form of cyber-based interaction. WIB is experiencing growth in its support opportunities and linkages. Networking functions take place on a regular monthly basis in the form of community initiatives ranging from walks, to fun women's evenings (Corsets and Cocktails), Shavathons, Fishing ... and social get-togethers, leading to interaction and exchanging of skills and knowledge between entrepreneurially minded women. Women in Business hosts monthly breakfasts and networking forums, which are interactive, topical, non-competitive and social. Topics range from self defence techniques to e filing tax returns, from drumming demonstrations to debt counselling. Networking time and smaller groups means that every participant has the opportunity to expose their business in a way in which they are comfortable. Women Entrepreneurs join our Women in Business social networking platform and enjoy the warm and "fuzzy feeling " gain ed through interactions with like-minded women who just as every other woman deal with tears, joy, anger, happiness, frustration and kick ass pride. Women in Business is primarily based in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, however the reach through cyberspace allows members to interact globally and participate in all events. Members are kept up to date by an informative website and regular newsletters. Members are represented at gender empowerment events and conferences, interactions with other like-minded organisations, whether in the business arena or through social interactions. Women in Business is interactive, personal and is most importantly ... Fun and non-competitive. Women in Business takes ladies of all business standing - from small entrepreneurial to large corporate to those ladies who just have an idea or to those who have retired from business - all sectors - all ages - all income brackets, and puts them on equal footing to learn, share and support each other. WIB is run by volunteer board members. Currently the administration organisational functions are carried out by Ali Engelbrecht (CEO WIB); the company secretarial and financial functions are carried out by Morar Incorporated (Finance WIB). The editorial portfolio is held by Rebecca Wakeford. Ali Engelbrecht: WIB Country Winner Africa's Most Influential Women in Business and Government recognised Influential African Women in Johannesburg - 30 July 2014. CEO Communications recognises Africa's Most Influential Women in Business and Government Gallagher Convention Centre was a powerhouse of influential business executives, government officials and ambassadors. Everyone gathered for the annual event, Africa's Most Influential Women in Business and Government, hosted by CEO Communications. This was the first leg of 9 events to take place across the continent. The idea is to visit all regions of Africa to enable networking opportunities and the celebration of these influential ladies. As a breakfast event, attendees were in awe of Keynote Address, Adv. Thuli Madonsela and all the women honoured with a beautifully framed certificate. " Women in Business is interactive, personal and is most importantly ... Fun and non-competitive. " CEO Communications hosts these events annually and as the years go on, the events grow in stature. Influential women at the SA event included role players in Agriculture, Manufacturing & Engineering, Mining, Wholesale and retail, Agencies and Regulatory Authorities, Elected Government Officials, Employed Government Officials, Arts and Culture, Tourism and Leisure and and numerous other categories. Public Enterprises - Finalists: Keabetswe Mpane & Sharla Pillay; SA Country winner & SADC regional winner: Julie May Ellingson; Welfare - Finalists: Evelina Kalenga, Mary Anne Thanddeka Gebhardt & Sinikiwe Biyela; Country winner: Alison Engelbrecht; Ethiopian Country winner & East African regional winner: Mulu Haile Tesema; SA Country winner & SADC regional winner: Joy Olivier; Local entrepreneur and influential woman, Ali Engelbrecht, based in KZN, carried the flag for the Midlands, in the Welfare and Civil Sector category, winning the Country winner division for the role she has played through Women in Business, an organisation she founded nine years ago. Winners are announced at each event in Mauritius, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia and continental winners celebrated in SA on 30 October 2014.
