Wildlands wins top KZN award
29 Jun 2012

THE Hilton-based Wildlands Conservation Trust won the top Partnership award at the 2012 FNB KZN Top Business Awards, held at the Elangeni hotel in Durban last night.
A highlight on the KZN business calendar, the glamorous awards evening recognised Wildlands for its public-private partnership aimed at developing and implementing a wide range of community-based greening activities.
Wildlands is one of the largest environmental NGOs in the country, based on the income it generates. The Partnership award was the top accolade of the evening and reflects the importance of effective inter-agency collaboration and partnerships.
The trust's programme, led by the Office of the Premier and co-ordinated by the Department of Public Works, is aimed at stimulating local economic development while nurturing the establishment of vibrant, self-motivated communities that are clean, green and driven by inspired "green-preneurs", a term piloted by Wildlands.
The KZN Top Brand Award, which was decided through an online poll over two rounds, was won by East Coast Radio.
The guests included dignitaries and leaders from the private sector, the provincial government and municipalities.
The event featured the unveiling of the 14th edition of the KZN Top Business Portfolio. -- Business Editor.
