eThekwini Municipality - GOVERNMENT LEADERSHIP TO VISIT NEW SHELTERS SET UP FOR DISPLACED FOREIGN NATIONALS

A team comprising of government leadership, including eThekwini Municipality Mayor Cllr James Nxumalo and members of the Executive Committee will visit new and existing shelters set up to assist displaced foreign nationals in Durban tomorrow, 18/04/2015 from 10H30.

The visit is aimed at reviewing the services provided at the shelters including water, electricity, ablution facilities and primary health care.

The leadership want to ensure that the displaced are living in humane conditions especially women and children.

The purpose of the visit is also to offer the displaced a sense of hope and give them a progress report of the dialogues taking place to ensure their safe reintegration back into the communities they once lived in, as it is important that they are kept abreast of all efforts being implemented to address the violence.

Members of the media are invited to visit the Phoenix Shelter for displaced foreign nationals at the Rydalvale Sports Ground. From there the government leadership will visit three other shelters in the City.
