eThekwini Municipality - DRAFT BUDGET/IDP REVIEW HEARINGS 2015/2016 - REVISED SCHEDULE2015-04-17 Due to the recent spate of violence against foreign nationals in the City, the Municipality originally cancelled all ward-based draft budget and Integrated Development Plan (IDP) review hearings and only hosted four regional hearings.
However, the Municipality’s leadership view these consultations as vital in the progress and sustainability of our City and had taken the decision to reschedule the ward-based meetings. The City has already conducted hearings at the King Zwelithini Stadium (South Region) and the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium which falls in the Western Region. The North Region scheduled for Monday, 20/04/2015 at Princess Magago will be postponed to 22/04/2015 commencing at 10h00. Mayor James Nxumalo urged citizens to attend the hearings as it is an imperative part of the budget and IDP process. “I would like to encourage residents to attend the hearings as it is their right to voice their opinion. All comments and suggestions from the community are valuable and will be given the due consideration before the 2015/16 Budget and IDP are approved and adopted.†The Mayor added that if residents did not have the opportunity to attend previous hearings, they are welcome to attend any of the following closest to them.
