Regional Business fairs are platforms for business owners to exchange knowledge, assess opinions from clients and determine market potential. Mayor James Nxumalo said business fairs not only benefit exhibitors and visitors, but also create employment opportunities for local people while growing the local economy. “It’s exciting to hear that exhibition space has been sold out before the registration deadline. This is an indication that small businesses are keen to take a centre stage and play a significant role to ensure radical economic transformation in our City,†said Nxumalo. This year’s Regional Business Fair in uMlazi has a new line up of features, which will benefit both businesses and customers. This year’s fair will provide an opportunity for businesses to have face to face meetings with new buyers, and also renew their contracts with existing buyers. Nxumalo added that the Municipality has made tremendous investments towards the development and growth of the Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) sector. The City, said Nxumalo, will continue to invest in SMMEs in a bid to fight the scourge of poverty. With the economic slowdown, Nxumalo said now is the ideal time for small businesses to showcase their presence through platforms such as the business fair. People from both the business and private sector, government departments and agencies, and the general public are encouraged to visit the Regional Business Fair at KwaMnyandu, in uMlazi on 13-15 May 2016.
