eThekwini Municipality will be launching the Invest Durban Strategy2017-11-23 To further unlock its potential to attract investment, eThekwini Municipality will be launching the Invest Durban Strategy on Friday, 24 November. This Strategy is a tool to facilitate growth of trade and investment to enhance the competitiveness of the City.
The media is invited to attend the launch taking place at the Durban’s Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, meeting room 22 at 7h30am. The Strategy aims to facilitate sustainable investment in Durban through the expansion, retention and aftercare of existing multi-national investors as well as targeted attractions for significant new foreign direct investment. It further aims to market and promote Durban as an investment destination. EThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, who will be speaking at the launch, will unpack how economic transformation will be accelerated which in turn will unlock investment opportunities that will position the City as a premium investment destination. Global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) thought leader, George Bennett, will be a keynote speaker at the launch and will be on hand to share his expertise on how the City can attract further investment and become globally competitive. Some other high profile guests include the World Bank Group, U.S Consul General Sherry Zalika Sykes, Michael Deighton from Tongaat Hulett Developments and City Manager Sipho Nzuza. They will be participating in a panel discussion to share innovative devices to attract more foreign investment to ensure Durban becomes a City that investors choose to invest in.
