Driven to succeed

Jofrey Raymond, was born in Singiwe-a small village located in Tanzania- in impoverished circumstances. His dream of acquiring an education to qualify himself as a university teacher was driven by the desire to assist his parents to be better off. Jofrey's family sacrificed a great deal to ensure that he could follow his dream of attending school.
Amidst many financial constraints and hardships, Jofrey completed a BSc degree and discovered a passion for food science and nutrition. He is now completing a PhD.
The death of his mother provided much impetus to his career. Jofrey said, "The event on this sad day transformed my dream from being just a university teacher and strategised to become a university teacher owning a company and a research center dealing with processing of functional foods". This dream has resulted in the "SimBarc"a dry, nutty snack alternative to candy bars, starched-based cookies and chips. The sesame-based product contains anticancer, anti-aging and anti-obesity compounds with high nutritional value.
The team who created it aims to market the product to improve the health of young people, the fitness segment and the general population of East Africa.
