African Renaissance - Ethiopian Aviation Academy

2016-05-19

Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopian) is the fastest growing Airline in Africa.  In its close to seven decades of
operations, Ethiopian Airlines has become one of the continent’s leading carriers, unrivalled in
efficiency and operational success.

In December 2015, Ethiopian Airlines started flying direct into King Shaka International Airport. KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Michael Mabuyakhulu said, “South Africa and Ethiopia share a common vision and a long standing history of promoting intra-African trade and development, the goodwill that exists between these two countries has also provided a firm basis for building stronger cooperation in various spheres, which include: political and economic, trade, investment, health, agriculture, education as well as capacity building and tourism development.”

In order to maintain its commitment to service excellence the Ethiopian Aviation Academy has been established as the training division of the Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Group. Since its inception, the Academy has proved itself to be a centre of excellence in developing skilled workforce for operational
divisions of not only Ethiopian Airlines but also the wider African aviation industry. In line with its vision 2025 strategic road map, Ethiopian Airlines Group has invested USD 100 million in breakthrough expansion and upgrading its Aviation Academy.  The scale and scope of the expansion seals the Academy’s position as the largest and the finest Aviation Academy in Africa with annual intake capacity of 4,000 students.

Mr Tewolde Gebre Mariam, Group CEO of Ethiopian said, â€œEducation is the greatest equaliser in today’s global village. We are proud to be in a position to avail the latest and next generation aviation technology training machines and facilities where we can train the continent’s youth and prepare them for the 21st
century African Aviation development. The Ethiopian Aviation Academy is positioning itself to be the catalyst leader in aviation training technology in supporting the African Union to realize its vision 2063.”
