Hailing from the hills of Eshowe in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Mbuso Khoza is a man of true musical talent, having drawn his musical inspiration from world renowned musicians such as Jabu Khanyile and Salief Keita. Mbuso has managed to share his life story through the use of his vocal and songwriting abilities. Some may say his music is purely jazz and some may say its traditional Zulu music. Above all this infusion of Jazz music and traditional Zulu music is what makes his sound so unique and intriguing along with his captivating vocal abilities.

Mbuso’s musical journey began at the age of five in the hills of Kwa-Zulu Natal as a young herdsman, he often had to use Zulu chants to call and herd his father’s cattle. He later relocated to Johannesburg in search for employment at recording studios, through his belief in music he then launched his career as a top back-up vocalist and songwriter. Mbuso has a stage presence that has earned him the right to be a sought after solo artist, before landing a solo career he was a backing vocalist for various Jazz artists such as  Themba Mkhize, Vusi Mhlasela, Siphokazi just to name a few.

2012 Had to be a definite milestone for this musician, this was the debut of his award winning album “Zilindile” on which he worked on with South African playwright Mbongeni Ngema, the album was produced by Mkhize Mavovo Music. The entire solo album was funded by KZN Music House. When it comes to raw talent Mbuso definitely takes the crown, his songwriting capabilities have graced him with wonderful opportunities which involved him composing musical scores for Leon Schuster’s feature film “Mama Jack” as well as Big Brother Mzansi just to name a few. This musical genius is a genuine South African product which creates music of joy and hope which will certainly last for centuries to come.
