Follow your dreams

2015-05-27

Inventor of 'DryBath' and Founder and Chief of 'Headboy Inddustries Inc. Ludwick Marishane is truly a young entrepreneur. While still in high school, Ludwick had the idea of creating something that can cleanse, without the use of water, and six months later a formula was devised, within a year the start-up was launched, and now is South Africa's youngest patent-holder and has been named, one of the 12 Brightest Minds in the World at the Google Zeitgeist.

Ludwick Marishane grew up in rural Limpopo, and despite the challenges he faced, he became a great success, even earning the award as the best student entrepreneur in the world as voted by the Entrepreneurs Organisation in 2011.
With the invention of DryBath®, Marishane aims to save water, which ultimately could be used for other actions that require water. Now that DryBath®, has hit the market, it is estimated that up to litres of water can be saved when using one DryBath® sachet of shower gel. Saving water is a priority for Marishane as lack of water is the main cause of infections and diseases. During his research he found that over 2.5 billion people worldwide have no access to clean, usable water, with 450 million of the group being from Africa. Marishane had to do most of his research on his cell phone, making use of Google and Wikipedia as it was his only access to getting information and research given the circumstances. Marishane says the most important advice he can give to any young entrepreneurs is to "find what you love doing, and exert all your effort on pursuing it" Marishane also encourages young entrepreneurs to embrace failure, as failure it is an experience and the only real failure is when you give up.

On winning awards to celebrate his success, Marishane says he is planning on using his status as student entrepreneur and bright mind to inspire and encourage them to follow in his footsteps. "I am dedicating my life to enabling the world's youth to follow their dreams, and I urge other entrepreneurs to do the same...by first following their dreams."
