KZN Business Sense - It’s Time to Lead from the Ground:Akash Singh, the KwaZulu-Natal Business Chambers Council

2016-02-18

Over the last few weeks and months I have heard all too often how difficult the economic outlook is, as well as the many reasons why we are not going to succeed in the current year. I think it’s time for the real heroes in the economy, who are ready to lead, no matter how hard the trading conditions are, to take on these roles. Like in any difficult battle that is won, we often find a hero that leaves a legacy for generations to come. My call is for those unsung economic heroes, to come tell their story.

No one knows the economy and its engine better than you, so it’s time for you to #provethemwrong! Just like the students that have led and won the #feesmustfall campaign, you are the students of the economic university. You can make the difference and prove all those sceptics wrong.

Like on any miracle morning, in which your optimistic tone sets the DNA for the day, we need to be positive. We need to look for opportunities and turn difficultness into possibilities and innovation. We can then begin to address the many reasons why it is thought that we will not succeed in these difficult times. We can also exceed all expectations and growth rates that are being set.

Let’s hear you #provethemwrong story by sending it to the editorial staff of Business Sense or the local Chamber or business organisation in your area. Let’s make 2016 count and evangelise and embrace success in each of our businesses and organisations.

South African business has a long track record of being robust and sustainable, even in the most challenging of times. I look forward to hearing about your success story and driving the campaign (everyday) #provethemwrong.
