Foskor receives three awards from the Zululand Business Community

2009-08-19

“We are particularly proud of our Richards Bay Acid Division and the landmarks it has achieved in recent years. Historically, the technology and methods used in acid production meant that we had difficult relations with environmentalists. However, a concerted drive to raise efficiencies and eradicate air and water pollution forced the introduction and implementation of new and better “green” technologies that improved the overall quality of living of all those affected in Richards Bay”.

Foskor has also dedicated considerable resources to attracting and developing scarce skills and formalizing instruction and up-skilling procedures to continue raising production standards. By giving all staff equal access to training opportunities and exposure to international expertise through a technical assistance agreement with India, Foskor supports both individual career advancement and the company’s development.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has recognised Foskor’s commitment to skills development through mentorships, learnerships, offering incentives for higher learning and raising HIV/Aids awareness and as such has granted Foskor the Employer of the Year Award. Foskor has also managed to protect existing jobs over the past financial year despite prevailing market conditions.

The Vice-President of the Richards Bay Acid Division, Mr Johan Potgieter, added:“I’m ecstatic that the Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry has acknowledged Foskor’s value-add and resolution to offer superior customer service and exceptional service delivery. Foskor’s staff remains motivated and convicted and are truly appreciative of this award from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry”.
