Ulundi to Durban Airlink announced

2012-10-02

THE creation of reliable and efficient air transport links between Zululand and the major economic hubs of KwaZulu-Natal has taken another major step forward with the announcement of a direct flight between Ulundi and Durban.
The Mayor of Zululand District, Zanele Magwaza-Msibi, and Federal Air said businesspeople would now be able to fly directly to Ulundi from Virginia Airport in Durban every weekday.
“The daily flights make it possible to reach Durban in forty minutes,” said KaMagwaza-Msibi.
“We have been working towards this since we completed the multi-million upgrade of our airport at Ulundi and launched the first route to link our district with Msunduzi. Time is money in business and car travel cuts out a big part of a business person’s day.
“We want our district to be connected by air so that our economy can continue to flourish,” the mayor added.
With Ulundi experiencing growth and development, such transport linkages are vital for the sustainability of business in general and tourism in particular.
Troy Reiser, MD of Federal Airlines said: “Federal Air is proud to be a partner in these ground-breaking initiatives by the provincial and district government, to bring airlift to these vital centres in the region.
The air shuttle service between Virginia Airport, Pietermaritzburg and Ulundi is a unique concept, and will provide much needed accessibility to business people and tourists in the area.”  Bookings www.fedair.com Tel: 033 346 2580
