Bafundise Skills - Know Your Employees Rights

2015-09-30

Join us at the Saddlers Arms Greyville Convention Centre for an informal breakfast and brief overviews of the topics below by experts in their fields. This morning seminar is aimed at employers and HR officers who need to evaluate and act upon legislation that affects both employees and ourselves in our everyday business operations.

The floor will be opened for questions surrounding the topics, so come prepared. The seats available will be limited in order to make the morning more meaningful and to encourage interaction.

Garnishee Orders
Uncertainty exists regarding the true number of active emoluments attachment orders, which are commonly but erroneously referred to as garnishee orders, in South Africa as well as the percentage of the workforce in South Africa affected by these orders.

Presenter Ron Ries is the founder of Free Me, a company which specialises in providing advice and training to consumers specifically about debt related issues.

Consumer Protection
This important piece of legislation will significantly change the way business is conducted in South Africa. The Act requires, among other things, that business dealings with consumers are fair and reasonable.

What does this mean for companies and their employees?

Employment Equity
The labour-relations landscape is digesting several recent legislative changes that regulate retrenchment practices, equal work for equal pay, and the use of labour brokers.

Presenters from DRG Outsourcing discuss what this means for South African businesses.

"The purpose of the employment Equity plan is to enable the employer "to achieve reasonable progress towards employment Equity", to assist in eliminating unfair discrimination in the workplace, and to achieve equitable representation of employees from designated groups by means of affirmative action measures."
