The 2017 JCCI Annual Conference heard several illustrious speakers presenting their success stories and challenges for the future on various topics. Presenters included:
• Gauteng Premier, Honourable David Makhura – Keynote address
• Willie Chavalala – Standard Bank Head of Business Banking / Gauteng
• High Commissioner of Namibia, H.E Mr. Veiccoh K. Nghiwete
• Samantha Ngcolomba, Enterprise Development Academy (Overview of Private Sector Development Projects)
• Shawn Theunissen – Property Point Development Projects
• Bob Williamson President of International Special Tooling Machining Association (ISTMA) and Executive Chairman of INTSIMB National Tooling Initiative
• Dirk van Dyk CEO of the National Tooling Initiative Programme
• Bongani Khuluse – Chair, JCCI Youth Commission
• Martin Sanne – CSIR (4th Industrial Revolution – how South Africa needs to plan)

A panel discussion was chaired by Samantha Ngcolomba to review project challenges, success factors and outcomes. Participants were Jacoba Schutte (EY project), Simon Gardner (Sun International), Ravi Naidoo Bluefields Group, and Jayshree Naidoo (Standard Bank Incubator).

In his summation, Aurelio Grech-Cumbo said that the successes of all these projects are the result of the passion and drive these entrepreneurs have had to identify critical needs required for economic development and growth.

Through the joining of hands by the government and the private sector, and by ensuring the development of sustainable methodologies, economic growth for the benefit of the country and its people, as a united nation can be reached. Grech-Cumbo said, “The goals going forward should be to harness these methodologies and replicate them in all sectors, with government and private sector facilitation and implementation by experts, in cost effective projects
with sustainable outcomes.”

He concluded, “Let’s embrace these successes and go forward with enthusiasm to face the new
challenges in united private public partnerships.”
