To mark the 94th birthday of Nelson Mandela, the Shoprite group in association with Coo-ee and other companies, decided to dedicate their 67 minutes of time to the underprivileged residents of Wentworth. A braai was held at the Wentworth Community Based Centre and was attended by over 500 underprivileged and medically frail residents.

This event was a great success! The children from Wentworth had a great time as they were entertained by our very own Frapples and even had their faces painted. Furthermore, the SAPS (South African Police Service) co-ordinated the crowd and educated them on the dangers of crime. Finally, the braai allowed many to fill their bellies with the delicious food, cake & Coo-ee soft drinks on offer.

As South Africans, Mandela Day allows us to reflect on life and use our time to do charitable deeds in the spirit of the great Nelson Mandela.
Overall, this was a day well spent in giving back to those who need it & showing that Coo-ee really cares for our community!
