Hailed as the largest motorcycle event in Africa, Africa Bike Weekâ„¢ 2016, brought to you by Harley-Davidson®, will be taking place for the eighth consecutive year in the coastal town of Margate, KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, from 28 April to 1 May (Thursday to Sunday) 2016.

With a wide array of exciting activities for the whole family, this event attracts thousands of motorcycle’s and motorcycle enthusiasts annually (last year bike activity through the toll roads was recorded at over 34 000), all with a passion for freedom, motorcycles and the stunning South Coast.

The event is open to all Harley-Davidson® and other motorcycle riders and enthusiasts.

“With complimentary participation for bikers, the organisers are anticipating an even bigger roar of engines in the forthcoming event. The 2015 event attracted visitors not only from South Africa but from surrounding African countries, and of course, the international Harley Davidson® contingent. This is exactly the type of event that we not only encourage, but support through as many channels that we can â€" as the entire tourism value chain benefits significantly from seeing such large numbers of visitors enjoying the paradise of the Zulu Kingdom.

Once again the appeal of the South Coast and Margate in particular has resulted in the return of this ever popular mega event. We are thrilled to once again be the vibrant host destination for ABW 2016. And with plans underway, the greater South Coast is gearing itself up for the bikers and their entourages. Outrides and overnight stays in the majestic hinterland and to other parts of the area as well as value add specials are being organised. When making their bookings, we really encourage visitors to explore the diversity of our region” says Ugu South Coast Tourism CEO Mr Justin Mackrory.

Entertainment will keep visitors rocking well into the night with some of South Africa’s most popular bands, DJ’s and personalities taking to the stage during the weekend. Organizers have indicated that the line up at this year’s event will be the “best ever” with some seriously superstar names being mentioned!

According to Vicky Wentzel of Wozani Africa events “Some very exciting changes are being planned for next year’s event and we look forward to working with the Harley-Davidson team to ensure the continued growth and success of this event. The Kings of Rock band line up is looking incredible including the Parlotones, Prime Circle, Gangs of Ballet, Rubber Duc and Fokofpolisiekar to name but a few.”

Harley-Davidson® has again partnered with UGU District Municipality, Hibiscus Coast Municipality and Ugu South Coast Tourism to make Africa Bike Week™ 2016 another great event.
