Saturday the 18th June saw the South Coast Mountain Bike Series being officially launched at the San Lameer Estate. This brand new series seeks to highlight the beautiful terrain, scenery and challenging routes found on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. We have a unique plethora to offer cyclist, the red desert, our natural forests, untamed nature reserves, beautiful beaches and ocean, amazing trails that deserve to be shared.

The event organisers were inspired by many factors to start this series, entries for races on the South Coast are commonly lost to events in Pietermaritzburg, Durban and the North Coast and the current MTB calendar is extremely full. The benefits include the winter weather of a great coastal climate and minimal rain, the opportunity for greater prize money for entrants, attracting more participants, event consistency and standardisation, shared sponsorship and support for all event organisers.

The series “challenge” to all interested participants is to enter all five of the races but you will only pay for four and receive a limited edition Powerade golf shirt.

After the final series event there will be an awards ceremony which will be held at the Wild Coast Sun Convention Centre on Saturday the 29th October 2016. Series winners in the male and female categories will walk away with a R5 000 cash prize.
