Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani’s newly refurbished Lingela restaurant serves a fresh look

2015-12-03

The Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani’s Lingela Restaurant â€" known for its delectable buffet â€" has reopened its doors serving a renewed look following a R3.7 million refurbishment.

Guests can look forward to a modern and polished new look, designed to complement the exceptional cuisine that is synonymous with the popular Durban restaurant.

The hotel’s flagship restaurant, now boasts new furnishings, lighting and decor as well as the addition of a “curry corner” to its impressive buffet.

“Lingela’s remodel was much needed and has transformed the restaurant into a chic, contemporary and comfortable environment, injecting a fresh energy into the space,” said Southern Elangeni & Maharani GM, Samantha Croft.

“We constantly work to ensure that guests enjoy services and facilities that are of the highest standard, providing them with a holistic experience. This refurbishment has made way for an enhanced dining experience, where the ambience at Lingela is representative of its exceptional food,” Croft added.

Lingela is one of Durban’s renowned traditional buffet restaurants and its impressive fare includes succulent meat cuts, seafood, stir-fry, a wide range of roasts from the carvery, curries and casseroles.

The restaurant is headed by Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani’s Executive Chef, Shaun Munro, who is supported by a young and dynamic team.

“Some of the exciting additions include our tandoori oven as well as a curry corner, which offers a new selection of traditional Durban curries daily, beautifully presented in special imported copper chafing dishes,” said Munro.

“Many of the culinary offerings that Lingela is known for have been revitalised, particularly the live action cooking- the seafood that is grilled to order is now presented fresh on ice,” he explained.

“We are confident that Lingela’s refreshed and vibrant look will offer guests a fantastic experience and contribute towards the service excellence on which our hotel group prides itself,” said Mike Jackson, Tsogo Sun Operations Director KZN.
