BACKGROUND

In 2016 Unilever South Africa took up the challenge of enhancing the livelihoods of progress seekers with Surf, through the Surf School of Shine (SSOS). Through this platform we assisted woman across South Africa providing them with the skills they required to feel more confident and bring out their own “Shine”. This platform included four online courses around interview readiness, articles and even a CV generator.

RESULT

• In 2017, the SSOS took to the streets of South Africa through 2 roadshows to engage with our Surf Users and bring the Surf School of Shine to them. The workshops provided young woman with confidence and interview tips
• We set up Surf School of Shine Wifi Hotspots signing people up and taking them through the website and course material available
• Through these initiatives we have managed to sign up over 56,000 individuals and have also had 1806 CV’s Downloaded through the site and 675 Certificate downloads for the completionof all courses, with many more completing the courses but not having downloaded the certificate yet
