Minister of The Department of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, announced that the Department will be undertaking an investigation ensuring that companies comply with the requirement to employ a minimum of 60% South African citizens.

The announcement comes amid an inspection involving cement company PPC Cement, prompted by claims that it has been employing more immigrants than is legally allowed.

While there will be a focus on the hospitality, construction, agriculture and mining sectors at the onset of the investigations, all businesses are required to comply, Gigaba has clarified.
